BREAKING: Graham Roberts slams three Tottenham players for their ’embarrassing’ performances at Newcastle

Tottenham’s defending and general performance at Newcastle today left a lot to be desired and Graham Roberts was less than impressed with three Spurs players.

A nightmare first half saw Tottenham 2-0 down at half-time before another defensive howler early in the second 45 allowed Alexander Isak in to score a third.

Of course, front and centre to the issues for Spurs was defender Micky van de Ven.

The Dutch defender had an absolute nightmare really and after being left on his bum twice for the opening two goals, it was he who then allowed Isak to sprint in behind for the third.

However, it wasn’t just down to Van de Ven today.

A number of Tottenham players were poor on the day. Heung-Min Son was taken off by Ange Postecoglou, while the likes of James Maddison and Timo Werner were also disappointing throughout.

But defensively, it was a performance to forget.

And taking to X over on social media, former Spurs ace Graham Roberts has slammed three Tottenham stars for their efforts today.

As we all know, Roberts is never one to hold back with an opinion on Spurs, both positive and negative.

Roberts is well known for voicing his opinions over on X and he was at it today, expressing his frustration with a number of Spurs stars.

The ones to get some stick today? Well, defensive duo Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, alongside midfielder, Yves Bissouma.

Tottenham endure a nightmare at Newcastle

This was just an utter disaster from start to finish really.

Tottenham were never at the races and quite what the defending was all about is a mystery.

As Roberts says here, there seemed to be a lack of desire to win even the most basic of balls in the penalty area and when you put that with Van de Ven’s own stinking performance, then it was just a recipe for disaster.

This is one that Tottenham need to move on quickly from. Next up is Arsenal, and a similar performance in the NLD will result in another hammering.

Ange Postecoglou, then, will need to get into his players.
