REPORT: Dallas Cowboys Reveal Shocking Update on 2024 Contract Talks With Star Free Agents!

The general perception of the Dallas Cowboys changes depending on the person you ask. For their most passionate fans, the Dallas Cowboys are simply unlucky when it comes to the postseason. Meanwhile, critics will insist that America’s Team simply choke during the most important moments of the season.

However, it’s clear to everyone that the Cowboys need to retain the core that’s made them a successful regular-season team for the past couple of seasons. The fact that there still aren’t positive updates on that end is starting to worry fans who deem these free agents as important pieces for the Cowboys’ 2024 campaign.

Dallas Cowboys are yet to settle contract issues with star free agents

Cowboys Country’s Mike Fisher published a piece detailing the unique predicament the Cowboys suddenly find themselves in when it comes to their free agents.

Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons are all important players to the Cowboys’ regular-season success and are due contracts this offseason. Some might even consider Dak’s situation a bit more critical as he’s entering the final year of his contract.

However, the number-crunchers in the Cowboys camp may find Dak Prescott’s contract a tad too expensive for their tastes. The same thing might also be true for Lamb and Parsons:

It’s well-known that Prescott is entering the final year of his deal, and that while an extension is the at-least “stated” goal there, too (with a March 13 deadline of cap-compliance looming while Prescott presently counts an unwieldy $59.4 million against the cap), there are options that could leave him without a deal beyond 2024.

“Our whole thing with Dak is him being a Cowboy,” COO Stephen Jones said Tuesday at the NFL Scouting Combine. “That’s all that’s on our mind.”

That’s the right thing to say. But the News is reporting that “the Cowboys are not scheduled to meet with (Prescott agent Todd) France at the Combine or, for that matter, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and hybrid defensive end Micah Parsons’ representatives.”

Dak Prescott had a solid 2023 campaign with the Dallas Cowboys, passing for 4516 passing yards and 36 TDs while only throwing nine INTs. CeeDee Lamb was an unstoppable wideout, catching for 1749 yards and 12 touchdowns. On the other side of the coin. Micah Parsons collected 14.0 sacks, 36 solo tackles, and a forced fumble from the OLB position last year.

There’s no clear reason why the Dallas Cowboys aren’t providing a clear update on the contract situation of these players. Everyone knows that they’ll be weaker if even one of Prescott, Lamb, or Parsons is not present in the team come thee 2024 season.

Fans can only hope that Jerry Jones and company know what they’re doing by delaying the contract extension talks for this long.
