Warriors Breaking: Chris Paul Joins Rare Company After Achieving 2 Major Milestones in Game Against the Miami Heat

Golden State Warriors: Chris Paul Joins Rare Company After Achieving 2 Major Milestones in Game Against the Miami Heat

The Golden State Warriors snapped their two-game losing streak by routing the Miami Heat 113-92 on Tuesday night to keep them in the play-in mix. However, that’s not the only cause for celebration for them.

That is because, along the way, their point guard Chris Paul climbed up in the NBA’s all-time steals and regular-season games played list.

Chris Paul became the third player in NBA history to reach the 2,600-steal threshold. The only players above him are fellow legendary floor generals, Jason Kidd (2,684) and John Stockton (3,265).

Paul is also now No. 34 in the all-time regular-season games played list with 1,261 games and counting, surpassing his good friend, Carmelo Anthony. If he plays 10 of the Golden State Warriors’ 11 remaining regular-season games this year, Chris Paul will surpass John Havlicek (1,270) at No. 33.

Chris Paul for the Golden State Warriors this season

Last summer, the Golden State Warriors acquired Chris Paul from the Washington Wizards in exchange for Patrick Baldwin Jr., Jordan Poole, Ryan Rollins, and two future draft picks.

In 47 regular-season games this year, Chris Paul has averaged 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, playing as their Sixth Man and backup point guard to Steph Curry. Chris Paul missed a lot of games but returned in late February due to a fractured left hand he sustained in January.

Against the Miami Heat yesterday, Chris Paul went scoreless but had two rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in 23 minutes of playing time. However, the Golden State Warriors still managed to win, with Klay Thompson leading the way with 28 points, five rebounds, and six three-pointers made.

The Golden State Warriors badly needed this win, even if Draymond Green doesn’t feel that worried , because the Houston Rockets are hot on their heels with a nine-game winning streak. They are clinging to the 10th spot in the Western Conference with a 37-34 record.

Golden State will take on the Orlando Magic next in the second game of their four-game road trip.
